Access and security
What is a Patient Key, and when do I need one?
A code, QR and PIN providing access to one handover. Use it when giving a study to a patient on paper or for sharing with another doctor. You control expiry and permitted uses.
Create and share the key
- 1Open the handover → Access → Create key.
- 2Set the patient, expiry and number of permitted uses.
- 3Choose print, email, SMS or a combination. Confirm the recipient’s consent for notifications.
- 4Create the key. Save the PIN immediately or download the PDF with code, QR and PIN.
Separate from an SMS link
A Patient Key has its own code, PIN, expiry and access count. Its SMS may contain code and PIN according to delivery selected, and its PDF contains the key details. SMS to a named recipient from sending contains only a link and expiry; its PIN is shared separately. These are different access types.
The PIN is shown only when issued
The clinic cannot reveal the PIN again. The QR does not contain the PIN. A PDF containing the PIN is available for 15 minutes after issue or reissue.
Showing the PIN once does not mean access is single-use. Usage limits and expiry are set separately.
Forgotten PIN or lost key
Choose Reissue. The old key is revoked and you receive a new code and PIN. If access is no longer needed, open the key and revoke it.
Used and old keys remain in history, but cannot necessarily grant new access.
