How a handover works
A handover has a clear responsible party and moves from preparation through access and response to completion and archive.
Main states
- Preparation — a file, recipient or send action is missing.
- Needs action — the next step belongs to your clinic.
- Waiting for the recipient — they need to open, acknowledge, request more information or return a result.
- Needs attention — access has expired or been revoked, or delivery failed.
- Completed — the required work is finished and the handover has been closed.
What determines the next step?
MediSend uses actual actions: sending, opening, downloading, acknowledgement, requests for more information, returned files and completion. Today highlights the most important unfinished step.
Acknowledgement and completion
Acknowledgement means the recipient reached the handover and confirmed receipt; it is not a clinical review. Complete the handover only after reviewing the required acknowledgements or results and resolving outstanding requests. No more files can be returned after completion, but history and the receipt remain available.
